The operations team needed better control over carousel content from KlarityOps

KlarityOps, Klarity Health's enterprise product, helps the operations team manage provider information and coordinate data across platforms. Initially built for basic tasks, it lacked features to meet our growing company's needs.

By Q1 2024, the operations team found the carousel management feature insufficient. It had limited editing capabilities and led to inefficiencies.

Carousel management's dashboard before the redesign

What was wrong with the dashboard? The feedback from all our operational team was consistent:

I interviewed stakeholders to identify key design enhancements

“How does our team store carousel content?”

"The first time I used it, I had no idea how it would look on the platform.”

"How do I adjust the order of a carousel?"

“We can only add a carousel on the home page; what about other pages?”

These concerns revealed that the existing design lacked several critical features: the ability to store and manage content, preview carousels, make sorting adjustments, and implement versatile page settings—all essential for our users.

The goal is to redesign the carousel management feature to be future-proof

The project manager and I agreed on the following qualities for the redesign

Scaleable

The redesigned dashboard is flexible, adapting easily to complex operational needs and data management requirements.

The final solution involved redesigning the entire flow

I worked with one developer to implement the redesign. The solution we released included the following

Ⅰ. Enhanced page settings

Users start with an empty dashboard, add new carousels, and enter details through a pop-up window to assign them to various pages.

Ⅱ. Detailed carousel editing page

Users can click "edit" to access a new editing page, where they can update content and preview how the carousel appears on mobile.

Ⅲ. Carousel status options

Users can set active carousels (max three for SEO) to inactive for content storage and future reference.

Ⅳ. Limit enforcement

A warning message and disabled "Add new carousel" button enforce the three-active-carousel limit.

Ⅴ. Carousel order adjustment

Users can rearrange carousels using drag-and-drop for flexible content management.

Takeaways

Collaborating with cross-functional teams under a tight 3-week deadline to gather ops team pain points and feedback was challenging. Looking ahead to the next release, my goal is to collect more user feedback and use it to further refine the dashboard, enhancing its functionality and user experience.
